The concept of the "love triangle" could never be called new to Japanese animation; some may even call it a common motif and genre. Please Save My Earth goes a little beyond the common love triangle. In fact, there is a bit of a "love pentagon." That's right; of the seven characters who once lived on the moon, five of them are caught up in this intricate affair. Shion (Rin-kun) was Mokulen's (Alice) abusive boyfriend. Shukaido (Haru-chan) secretly had a crush on Mokulen and therefore hated Shion. Moreover, not only did he wish that he dated Mokulen, he wanted to abuse her as well. His wish to be Shion is the reason that, in this lifetime, Shukaido looks like Shion once did. Shukaido even tried to make Shion commit suicide on the moon, so that he would not have been able to reincarnate himself; thus, Mokulen would have been ripe for his twisted picking. Gyokulen also had a thing for Mokulen and everybody knew about it - especially Enju (Issei), who loved Gyokulen with all her heart. In this lifetime, Enju became a boy... more importantly, she became Gyokulen's best friend in his reincarnation. It was her idea that if she was Gyokulen's best friend (even as a guy), then she could never really lose him. As you can see, Mokulen is the center of this whole mess. Her current incarnation cannot remember her memories from the moon because she is unconsciously suppressing them. She does not want to remember her past, or else she will remember the hell that Shion once put her through. The other two characters from the moon are kind of menial.
