The year is 2028. Tokyo is a city that has suffered terribly from acid rain of a polluted environment. To make matters worse, numerous attacks by demon-like creatures, called Lucifer Folk, have been made throughout the city on specific individuals. These Lucifer Folk are a mysterious race of beings who come from another dimension to attack humans, and they have a vast array of mystical abilities at their disposal. In case you didn't know, the second Silent Möbius movie is a continuation of the flashback covered in the first movie. That is, this movie also focuses on the character Katsumi Liqueur and the events that eventually lead to her role in AMP -- The Attacked Mystification Police Department. Katsumi's father, Gigelf Liqueur, is one of the world's most powerful sorcerers, and her mother, Fuyuka Liqueur, is one of the world's finest sorceresses. Quite a magical family, ne? Without boring you too much with details, this is what you missed in the first movie: During an encounter with a Lucifer Folk, Katsumi remembers the last days of her mother's life. *Enter Flashback Sequence* On her way to visit her dying mother, she is followed by a Lucifer Folk and later on attacked by it in her own room. The Lucifer Folk wants to consume her flesh. Kiddy and Nami of AMP come to the rescue, but Katsumi blames AMP for her "visions". The Lucifer beast eventually pursues Fuyuka, who is dead by the time Katsumi arrives on the scene. Once again, she blames AMP for everything that has happened. The movie then flashes back to the present and her encounter with the Lucifer Folk, which she dispatches of. Silent Möbius comes from the mind of manga artist Kia Asamiya, who also did character designs for various manga titles such as Nadesico, Steam Detectives, Vagrants, Dark Angel, and Compiler, just to name a few. Silent Möbius began in 1988 as a manga published in Comic Comp. Also, although it may not be very evident in the anime series, Silent Möbius, Compiler, Vagrants, and Nadesico take place in the same universe, and you may be able to pick out little connections, such as character references, between the series. So when you are watching Silent Möbius and Nadesico, see if you can pick out little similarities. |
