Armitage III is a well-made series about a female police officer who is a Third (a type of bio-organic robot). She has partnered up with a police officer from Earth, who has been revealed as distrustful of robots (a cyborg did in his family) and yet cybernetically enhanced himself (the irony of it all). They are currently pursuing a serial killer who focuses his attentions exclusively on Thirds. Why? He is a classical anti-technologist (note that he wears furs; this is meant as a sign of his avoidance of "artificial creations") and sociopath. Why is it called Armitage III? - Please, for the love of God, AVOID SHARP OBJECTS! (::He did just tell you above -Phoenix) People like you frighten me with your attention spans. Armitage is the title character, and she is a Third, an advanced type of organic robot. Why does she dress that way, hey its enticing and all, but has she no shame? - She is (A) attempting to maintain an identity in a setting in which such concepts are discouraged; this style is clearly her own and is not duplicated by any of the other major characters or in the regular background scenes, (B) drawn to attract males to the series and unable to change her outfit because of the overindulgent minds of the animators. Where did this series draw inspiration from? - Clearly, this series is inspired by Bladerunner. (Cedric, stop yelling AD Police & Oedo like that!) Once again, we find ourselves looking at what it means to be human through the eyes of what basically amounts to social outcasts. (Criminals, Police, Cyborgs, Robots, etc.) The police are only "moderately" on the side of what we consider the law, and great amounts of thought are given to the motivations of the criminals. Why did Armitage suddenly get a "speed boost" towards the end of episode I? - Yes, it does seem quite strange that the tigress suddenly is moving about as fast as A-ko running up missile flights, etc., but you'd be surprised at what you can accomplish when you are really mad! (Look at Natsumi from YUA; it is quite possible that these two characters trained together) Also, Armitage is doubtlessly programmed for high intensity conflict situations. But why can't the other Thirds do the same sort of physical activities? - Well, they're soft. When you are an artist or sculptor, etc., you just don't have time to practice running along catwalks, etc. Thirds are programmed to LEARN from experience, and the other Thirds haven't come in contact with those influences. It takes a hell of a lot of work and practice to learn a martial art. Will we see the crazy psycho again? - Of course we will! Don't you watch enough TV police movies (It's just like on Melrose Place!) to know about things like this?! What if I don't like the psycho! - Good for you! Then again, you probably also consider your computer a close personal friend. Go outside for a while. What if I don't like Armitage either? - Then cheer up! She's currently enduring a lot of pain, so don't worry about her not suffering! How does she do the handcuff thing? - I'll tell you when you're older. Okay, I'm really worried about this cat from Please Save My Earth entering into this. I know you guys, you'll drag it in somehow & force it into print. Please don't mention the cat, please. - Ah, someone who is familiar with our past work, obviously. His whereabouts are currently unknown, but his cousin has been seen chauffeuring Totoro around in style. |
