In the last episode (BAD!), Lina triumphs over the Mummy Man and his local under-the-bridge henchmen. In this following episode (CRASH!), she encounters a budding menace outside the inn door. Who is this Zelgadis? What's the material of his face? Does he know any kissing fish? What's with the alphabetical titling? Do you know how to write a sentence without a question mark? Oh yeah, and what are his evil intentions to the girl? Ignore the last two lines. They were written by a madman. I am NOT a madman. I am Rezo the Red Priest. Now, now... I'll talk about you later. As for Zelgadis, he's a wickedly powerful black sorcerer who wields the even more wickedly powerful Dragon Slave. Oh wait, no... that's our heroine. Still, he's got shaman magic... oooh... to deal with the likes of Lina. At any rate, this episode is especially significant because it actually introduces TWO major characters to the audience (and one minor balding grandpa-of-a-fella). The first is Zel. The other one is me. Right. Rezo, the Red Priest. By the way, before I go into Rezo, how much do you suppose a cursed knife and a puny statuette should go for? Ah, the magic word -- "should". Many things "should" be a certain way, but in Slayers, "should" takes on a totally different meaning. Watch out for Lina's monopolizing attitude with her treasures' transactions. Back to Rezo. He's supposed to be an incredibly powerful and wise young priest in Lina's world, born blind (except for the color red). So this priest goes around the world aiding the poor and innocent, performing miracles for all to see, except for myself. For all to see except for myself. I wonder what color my eyes are? I wonder if I will ever see them in a mirror? Ahem. Well, anyway, he makes an entrance in tonight's episode (and what an entrance it is!) to look for (figuratively speaking) the wickedly powerful Zelgadis and vanquish him before he takes the gems to fulfill his twistedly wicked machinations. It's the gems! Honest! OK... maybe not... |
