Suggestions for Anime Megamix

I got this idea on Saturday as I was walking back from the delicious fondue and bread. Sipping an equally delicious Mountain Dew Code Red (AKA Kidney Poison Unleaded) against the warm evening drizzle, I found myself listening to a considerable volume of anime music. So that got me thinking... "Hey, I know a few things about music, maybe I can string a few of these together into a megamix. It'll be fun!" So, I plan to do two versions of this project: one will be strictly Electronic and one will be assisted by acoustic, electro-mechanical, and human elements; that is to say, Metal. All that remains, really, is figuring out what songs to put in and finding MIDIs or scores of them. So then: I'd love to hear your suggestions. The sky's the limit; put down as many as you want. This should also be for CJAS as well as me. If you know where the scores or MIDIs can be found, please put that down as well. If you want to help, I'd appreciate every minute and every note. Here's the stuff (in order) that I want to put in right now:

Black Lagoon - Red Fraction, by Mell
Death Note - What's Up People?, by Maximum the Hormone
NHK ni Youkoso - Odoru Akachan Ningen, by Otsuki Kenji
Darker Than Black - Howling, by Abingdon Boys School
D. Gray-man - Doubt and Trust, by Access
Neon Genesis Evangelion - A Cruel Angel's Thesis, by Takahashi Youko
Fullmetal Alchemist - Ready, Steady Go, by L'Arc~en~Ciel
Naruto - Beautiful Green Wild Beast~The Raising Fighting Spirit, by Masuda Toshio
Bleach - Ichirin no Hana, by HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR
DN Angel - Byakuya -True Light, by Miyamoto Shunichi
Tsubasa Chronicle - Swordbreaker~Break the Sword of Justice~A Song of Storm and Fire
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - Tsuzuku Sekai, by Nakagawa Shoko
Ouran Koukou Host Club - Sakura KISS, by Kawabe Chieko
Venus Versus Virus - Bravin Bad Brew, by Riryka
Lucky Star - Motteke! Seira Fuku, by Hirano Aya, et all.
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu - God Knows...~Hare Hare Yukai, by Hirano Aya

What do you guys think?

Because I tend to be ignorent of anything thing either techincal or on the internets, I will ask an obvious question: What is a megamix? Is it where several songs are mixed into one? I heard something like that over the summer once (with American pop).

Yes actually. The megamixes I'm familiar with take the most memorable parts of their component songs and string them together as part of one very long piece connected by a series of transitions. Usually, the individual parts are very short; depending on the megamix, it usually goes no more than 30 or so seconds per song piece.

I've only heard Eurodance megamixes, in which the DJ takes pre-recorded songs, samples them, and digitally stitches them together into a single piece. As such, I'm not sure why you need scores or MIDIs of the songs.

In any case, your song list has one glaring error. I see nothing from Utena.

If this is to be a CJAS megamix, see our glorious history of showing schedules for inspiration. :)

Something from Trigun? That's pretty guitar-heavy, for the most part.

Pick a song from FLCL.

The X TV soundtrack is pretty metal-y. The opening (eX dream) and the third track (Futari no Kamui, Futatsu no Shinken) would probably work particularly well.

For rock, FLCL is certainly a good choice.

The openings to Ghost in the Shell: SAC are both very electronic. So is everything from Noir. Also, the soundtracks from most anything by Satoshi Kon.

For acoustic, it doesn't get much better than Yuki Kajiura, composer for everything .hack, among other things.

Can't leave out Cowboy Bebop from a genre discussion, because it has them all.

Some of the songs in your list are very much jpop (for example, the Eva opening and God Knows); from what you said I'm not sure they fit very well.

For electronic:
Texhnolyze - Juno Reactor - Guardian Angel
Paranoia Agent - Susumu Hirasawa - Yume no Shima Shinen Kouen (Dream Island Obessional Park)
Paranoia Agent - Susumu Hirasawa - Shiroi Oka: Maromi no Theme (This has a creepy kind of music-box feel to it.)
Fate/stay night - Sachi Tainaka - disillusion
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - Eiko Shimamiya - Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai - Eiko Shimamiya - Naraku no Hana
Revolutionary Girl Utena - Masami Okui - rinbu revolution
Paradise Kiss - Tommy february6 - Lonely in Gorgeous
Samurai Champloo - MINMI f/Nujabes - Song of Four Seasons (okay, this is a little hip-hop, but it's cool.)
anything from dotHack
anything from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

For rock(-ish):
Witch Hunter Robin - Bana - Shell
Great Teacher Onizuka - L'arc en Ciel - Driver's High
Honey and Clover - THE BAND HAS NO NAME - Mistake
Honey and Clover - suneohair - Waltz
Honey and Clover - suneohair - Split
Le Chevalier d'Eon - Okuda Miwako - Born
Bleach - Oreskaband - Tsumasaki
Bleach - Yui - Rolling Star (IT'S ABOUT A KATAMARI, YES IT IS.)
Paradise Kiss - Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To
Genshiken - manzo - My Pace Daioh
anything from Death Note
anything from X
anything from FLCL

For acoustic (I interpret this as folkish/more serene than metal):
Serial Experiments Lain - Boa - Duvet
Scrapped Princess - JAM Project f/Masami Okui - Little Wing
Texhnolyze - Gackt - Tsuki no Uta
Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo - Jean-Jacques Burnel - We Were Lovers (try not to get the one where he nails a HORRIFIC SOUR NOTE right at the climax of the song.)
Mushishi - Ally Kerr - The Sore Feet Song
in fact, anything from Mushishi
anything from Kino's Journey
anything from Haibane Renmei

For epic lulz in the rock category:
The Legend of Black Heaven - John Sykes - Cautionary Warning

For more epic lulz:
Tenjou Tenge - mc AT f/DA PUMP - Bomb a Head! V (as opposed to Bomb a Head! I-IV, I guess)

Hope you find something you like in there.

Many thanks for the suggestions! I'll have to get to work on the research! For reference, I plan to do something like this for the songs (one version elec., one version metal):

You like to play Castlevania, don't you?

That was epic Castlevania love. Whoever did that really knew a lot about Castlevania, what with the remix of Bloody Tears, Simon's Theme, and the wallscroll of Simon in the background.

I want that wallscroll.
