Have you ever wondered about reincarnation? Who would you be and what would you do with that new chance at life? Please Save My Earth explores those very questions. Sometime in the past, a small group of seven alien scientists set up a base on the moon. They observed Earth and its inhabitants (that's us folks) develop through the proverbial "looking glass." These aliens, while physically identical to humans, were endowed with special powers (quite reminiscent of Akira). When they contracted a life-threatening illness, the scientists tried to call the mother planet for help, only to find out that it had been wiped out in an inter-galactic war. One by one, the aliens died of the illness. Before dying, they all had a mental picture of what they would like to become in their next incarnation (In Mokulen's case, she dreamed that she was a crybaby Earthling girl). Thus, the story unfolds. The aliens are reincarnated as Earthlings with completely separate lives. They remember nothing of their previous lives until they reach adolescence. They then relive their previous lives in their dreams. They realize that their first mission is to reunite themselves and learn exactly what happened on the moonbase in their dreams. The maverick in this whole story is Rin-kun, the child. He is remorseful for his actions in his previous life and wishes to do whatever it takes to fulfill Mokulen's last request to him - to protect the Earth. Unfortunately for everyone around him, he is willing to destroy and maim anything that gets in his way. Rin-kun/S-kun is an adult in a child's body. He feels more emotion over what happened on the moon than the other six do. But even after all the destruction he causes, you can't help feeling a little sorry for him. |
