Oh My Goddess! is based upon a comic written by Fujishima Kousuke and directed by Gooda Hiroaki. Here's the gist of what's going on: boy in college orders take-out and gets a goddess, boy is granted a wish, boy wishes to keep goddess, goddess's two sisters show up, boy and goddess get along really well, goddess has to go back to Heaven, boy and goddess may not see each other again. Audience can't wait to watch the last OAV. =) If you want to know an interesting fact about Oh My Goddess!, according to the insert which comes with the videos, the goddesses are based on the Norns from Nordic mythology. Verthandi (Belldandy), Urd, and Skuld were the goddesses of fate. Urd was the goddess of the past, Verthandi -- the present, and Skuld -- the future. If you don't watch the ending credits, you're missing a really nice song. Sure, it's kind of lovey-dovey, but it's a lovey-dovey series. Here's the translation of the song "Congratulations": Walking around at a summer resort, arm in arm, Let's go see. The bells are ringing; "Congratulations!" "Thank you!" When the car carrying the couple starts to move, On the way back, while blushing, you said, Walking around at a summer resort, arm in arm, At the station platform, You put it on my shaky finger. This is an anime about love and promises. It's incredibly funny and has been a great enjoyment for me. I hope it will be for you. |
