This is what I'm sure everyone has been waiting for -- a Detective Conan episode that we haven't shown a million times before. Tonight's offering is Tokei Shikake no Matenrou (Countdown on a Skyscraper), the first of three Conan movies. Strangely enough (or not, given the series' popularity), there are still new episodes airing every Monday on TV Japan, and a fourth movie will be released this year. Tonight, Kudou Shinichi will use his knowledge of explosives, physics, architecture, and the Tokyo subway system to solve a mystery. Someone is blowing up buildings and remaking Speed with a subway train. Meanwhile, Shinichi has a date with Ran, who still hasn't figured out that he's really Conan. Will Conan find the bombs and bomber in time, or will the Tokyo sanitation department scrape him off the sidewalk? The cast of characters: Kudo Shinichi: A famous high school student who moonlights as a detective. Knows just about everything; also a good soccer player. Edogawa Conan: Shinichi's alias after he is shrunk to the size of an elementary school student. No, the 3x1018 J released by this transformation did not destroy Tokyo. Mouri Ran: Shinichi's girlfriend. Has no idea that Conan is Shinichi, and will probably be extremely mad when she finds out. Mouri Kogoro: Ran's father; owns a detective agency. All of his cases are actually solved by Conan/Shinichi. Kojima Genta, Tsuburaya Mitsuhiko, Yoshida Ayumi: Conan's classmates; they help him solve mysteries, or at least give it a good shot. Moriya Teiji: A famous architect; prefers to design buildings with bilateral symmetry. |
