City Hunter is an all time favorite of mine. It's just a show that's really cool and awesome. Well, Ryo Saeba and Kaori Makimura are a team for hire if you want a job done. At the Shinjuku train station, just write "XYZ" on the blackboard, and that will mean you want to hire them. In this City Hunter special, Death of the Evil Ryo Saeba, they are hired by a beautiful lady who wants their protection. Ryo Saeba is a really perverted and wacky character who will go after any woman he sees. (Kaori is always there to make sure he doesn't get too far with his advances by hitting him with a huge hammer, which she conveniently pulls out from nowhere. Another weapon of hers that you'll see today is the chained spike ball.) When he's serious, he can be a really attractive man who oozes charisma. He can shoot just about any target, and with his lighting speed and incredible reflexes, he can go up against an army of men. Also, he has a photographic memory of everything that happened in the past ten years. He uses a term called "Mokkori", which refers to his sexual energy. Kaori's older brother and Ryo used to be partners, but when he was killed, Ryo promised him to look after his sister. (Consequently, Kaori fills her brother's role as Ryo's partner.) Ryo always fulfills his promises, so Kaori is the only woman that Ryo won't take advantage of. If you can't tell, they love each other. Furthermore, they will trust each other with their lives. Anyway, there are also other characters. Umibozu and Miki are Ryo's friends, and they run a café. Umibozu has ways of getting lots of heavy-duty weapons and helps out Ryo when he's in trouble. Saeko Nogami is also Ryo's friend. She's a police officer. The coolest thing is the background stories of all the characters and their relationships to each other. I won't go into it, but if you're interested, you can find it online. Anyway, this particular City Hunter special is about a lady who hires Ryo and Kaori to protect her. She's a newscaster for the Mega City TV station, and she is a witness in the murder of the president of the TV station, Jack Douglas, who was killed by someone named Mad Dog. So, the adventure begins. (Note: I have never seen Ryo so perverted and goofy before. It's hilarious.) |
