My Travel through Tainan 2001-07Tainan, the root of our family. Ever since I was little, Tainan has held a very special place in my heart. Not only because it was where my grandparents lived but because of all the wonderful times I had there. Going to Tainan during summer breaks meant not only lots of carefree fun (except when I was passing by the local ice cream shop where running up a tab is not an option...). It also meant hanging out with my rather large number of cousins and relatives. After all, my grandpa fathered 10 children and had 3 brothers and sisters who had equally as many children. (Note: Most Taiwnese families lived together even though they are from different generations. In my case, my grandfather's brothers and sisters all lived together. Therefore, the size of our extended family is enormous. I always felt sorry for the bully who tried to pick on me. Okay, maybe not that sorry. Hahahahaha.) These days, only my fifth uncle from my grandpa's side is still living there.
