Hi James,
I stayed with you guys at Otakon last year and will definitely be
interested in staying with you guys again. I just wanted to add that I
thought you guys did a great job with the game show last year. Being in
the crowd I experienced first hand how cool a lot of people thought it
was that you had the texting option so people in the crowd could play. I
heard from Mike that you guys will be stepping up the interface this
year and I am definitely looking forward to seeing the game show again
this year. Thanks again for organizing this!
Yuki Hirokawa

Hey all, hope you're having a good year.
Eboarders, please forward this on to the general membership and others
you know as you see fit.
Otakon 2009 will be happening from July 17-19, and usual, I am
organizing a "CJAS and Friends" hotel room block.
This year, I have rooms booked at the new Hilton and the Sheraton Inner
Harbor.
Starting 2007, we took over the Otakon gameshow, and will be
continuing with that in 2009. (A video of last year's event is at
http://www.viddler.com/explore/confucious/videos/2/).
We need help on this, both before the con (to help write questions or
do coding) and during the con (to help staff the event and keep the
audience happy). Please let me know if you can help.
If you're interested in going to Otakon and staying with us,
please send me an e-mail. There is no-obligation, so even if you are
still unsure but are considering it, let me know so that I can keep
you in the loop regarding future developments.
If, for some reason, I get so many responses that I don't have enough
space to handle the worst-case scenario, I will send an e-mail out
with more information, but that has never happened in the
past. Historically, I've never had to turn anyone away who asked for
space.
Generally speaking, we go 6 people to a room, with a cost of around
$80-$100 per person for the whole weekend. Thursday nights may be
extra. There will be a online web system for picking what room to go
into so that you can decide who your roommates will be. If you're
interested in seeing how things have gone in past years, the mailing
list archives are at: http://www.cjas.org/pipermail/otakon/
This offer is also extended to non-cjas friends you may know. So feel
free to pass this information along. When e-mailing me, please include
your real name if it's not indicated in your e-mail address.
Thanks!
