Everest, the ultimate high and the dream of every serious mountaineer, is
serene and yet deceptively deadly. However, a trip to Nepal just isn't
complete unless you have trekked through some of its mountain ranges.
If you are interested in trekking in the Everest, here are a couple of
things to keep in mind:
Flight with Yeti Airline
My journey to the Everest begain with the most amazing flight of my life. In addition to rough weather and mountains on both sides, the plane had to land in an extremely short run way on top of a cliff. If this isn't excitment, I don't know what is. |
The Highest Airport in the World
Where the margin for error is smal and unforgiving: on one end you have a cliff straight down and the other a cliff straight up. |
Lodging Along the Way
Since so many people trek in the Everest region, you will find friendly locals and lodges such as these along the way. Be careful of what you eat. Due to difficulties in transportation, some unscrupules owners may ignore expiration date completely. |

Though we went during the summer season, the nights are still cold and filled with snow. |
Top of the World - Not exactly
Once you passed 4500 meters, the scenery changes once again and one is greeted by what can only be described as the playfield of gods. |

Glacier
Photographing mountains are always difficult due to the fact that you lose perception of depth. The glacier in the picture is in fact huge! It'd take a good half a day to trek from one side to the other. |
Prayer Flags
For peace and the spirits |
Getting Close to Everest
Everest is just around the corner - behind the snow covered peaks that is. |
Gokyo Pass
The climb through Gokyo Pass was challenging, fun and highly enjoyable. I am so glad we did it early in the morning as the pass would be impossible one the snow starts to melt in the afternoon. |
Taking a Well Deserved Rest
Having cross the pass, all of us are exhausted and ready for some well deserved R&R |

Amazing Porters
I don't know how they do it but these guys can carry up to 70 Kgs and walk faster than you and I can. Their pay is pretty low though - $10 a day. |
