My Travel in Myanmar

What I have learned in Myanmar...

bullet

In most places where electricity is available, it is provided for 6 hours every other day and alternates between day and night-time.

bullet

Most people rely on underground water instead of tab water as it is most often unavailable

bullet

Inflation in Myanmar runs about 30% a year, which explains why people prefer USD or FEC (Foreign Exchange Currency).  Now, the question that begs to be asked is, "where is the inflation coming from?"  Well, it is actually not all that difficult to figure out - the dammed military government is stealing from its people by printing more useless money.

bullet

Most of the cars are extremely old partly because they don't have the know-how to fix newer cars

bullet

The government does try to keep tab of where you go

bullet

There are pagodas everywhere.

bullet

Monks are very influential in Burma but it is questionable as to how much good they do for the people considering the amount of money being spent on building pagodas

bullet

Internet is not available in Myanmar

bullet

Small children will run along side of trains asking passengers to give them empty plastic bottles so they can exchange for money

bullet

People will often ask "do you have a present for me?"  This is their way of asking for money but a gift such as pen is also acceptable, depending on the situation.

bullet

The country is extremely poor as the military steals all the money and roads are bad

bullet

The population is not highly educated

bullet

There is garbage everywhere!  And people have no problem just throwing things anywhere they go.
