My Travel in Thailand (Pictures from 2001-11-17 to 2001-11-23)

Ching Mai, the Northern province in Thailand, is a great place to visit the Northern tribes and for trekking.  I was there for 4 days and had a great time trekking!  The night in Ching Mai was, however, a little too cold for my taste but that did not stop me from having fun.  While there, I got to ride an elephant and fire a gun - both for the first time.  What a wonderful experience that was.  So if you ever visit Thailand, make Ching Mai one of your stops.  You won't regret it!h

Just Hanging Out

Since I got some time to kill before I head up to ChingMai, I met up with the girls at their university for good fun and a wonderful movie.

Just Hanging Out

Nui is so cute isn't she?

Just Hanging Out

Our lovely Beau (pronounced BoW). I still think Beau-tiful is a better name wouldn't you agree?

Tam Agonizing Over Westlife CD...

She is their #1 fan in Thailand! This is the first day for the release of Westlife's new album so Tam rushed to the stores! And boy, can this girl run!

At the Movies

Thanks Yim, for saving us 20B with your discount card!

Meeting New Friends!

Tam introduced me to two more friends of hers - Da and Lin. I wish I had more time to get to know them but I had to rush to the bus station... Da and Lin, maybe we can get together again? ( :

Bus to ChingMai

It was comfortable and fast but way too C O L D!!!

Beautiful Wats

ChingMai is full of beautiful wats. You can hardly walk a block without seeing one!

The Old City Gate (Eastern)

The actual gate was destroyed long ago. This is a replica.

A Special Encounter

By chance, I met the monk who is in charge of a very special buddy. The buddy housed within the wat behind me shows two different emotions, depending on the lighting within the room!

Breathtaking!

The View of Northern Thailand

What a beautiful country!

Our Five Star Accomendation

Let's just say we did not need any AC!

My Bunk

When we rough it, we really rought it!

Villagers

The northern tribes within Thailand live a very simple life.

Local Kids...

It seems they are as curious about us as we are about them.

Wonderful Dinner

Our first dinner together was wonderful and the food was delicious (or were we just too hungry?)

Chilly Night

The first night no one slept because it was just a little bit cold...

Buddy!

We adopted buddy (aka Dirty Dog) after he decided to follow us everywhere and to take the best spots near the fire.

A Northern Tribesman Hunter

He was so nice to us and even let me fire his gun!

Elephnat and I

The animal was so gentle!

Elephant Riding!

It was so exciting to be sitting on the neck of such gracious animal!

Up Hill We Go

They are the ultimate 4x4!

Fueling Stops

Unfortunately, they also requires frequent fueling stops!

Our Trekking Group!

What an awesome group it was!
