My Travel in Thailand (Pictures from 2001-11-12 to 2001-11-16)

Thanks to Tum and Tu, I have made my way down to Phuket from Bangkok safely.  Here,  I met Tum and Tu's friend Ja who works at Patong Holiday Expressas as the Sales and Marketing Manager.  Ja is really cool and got me a nice room and a great to match.  Folks, if you ever come to Phuket (you must!), you should contact her and stay at the Holiday Resort  - You will like it. Diving at Shark's Point

The diving was great but I had too much weight on me and was sinking a little too fast...

Shark's Point

Home of Strait Chinese

Strait Chinese - Chinese who have left China at the end of last century and integrated into Phuket society holds rich history and culture of their own. This is a picture of Mr. Tandavanitj's grandfather. He is a general in the Ching Dynasty.

Home of Strait Chinese

We were so lucky! Ja knew Mr. Tandavanitj, the owner of the most well preserved Strait Chinese home in Phuket. He gave us a wonderful tour of his house!

Mr. Tandavanitj

He is such a wonderful man! If you visit Phuket, you must visit his home. It is beautiful!

Light and shadow...

Ja

Since Ja refuses to let me take a picture of her next to a picture of her mom in traditional dress, I guess this will have to do. ( :

Well Educated

Strait Chinese are early explorers who are often highly educated. Mr. Tandavanitj showed us his mother's diploma, issued in 1922 from U of Cambridge.

Money...

Ceremaic was used as a form of money at one point in time.

Can You Guess What This Is?

Hint: It is used in a bed room when you sleep!

Finally, She Shows Her True Form...

Ja being herself... Hahahaha or (555 in Thai).

Delicious Lunch

Ja and Linly took me to a wonderful local eatery and I had Ja's favorite dish. It was wonderful!

Wat Chalong

The style of this temple is somewhat different from the ones in Bangkok but it is just as breath-taking. After several attempts, the gods gave me a good fortune. ( :

Linly

A wonderful friend of Ja (and now my friend too), she is a lovely girl who speaks great English.

At the Wax Museum

We stopped to pay our respect to the monk who built Wat Chalong

At the Local Port

Ja and Linly look so cute don't they?

Sunset in Phuket

So much beauty in the world...
